Compress image to 50 KB
Fifty kilobytes is the world's most common form-photo limit — and the one phone cameras are worst at meeting. This page is preset to 50 KB: drop in your photo and get back the sharpest version that fits the rule.

Where the 50 KB limit rules
- Exam applications. Competitive-exam and university entrance portals very commonly ask for a passport-style photo between 20 KB and 50 KB.
- Government job and ID forms. Recruitment boards and document services frequently cap uploads at 50 KB per file.
- Visa supporting photos. Several consular upload systems use 50 KB as the ceiling for the photo step.
- HR and onboarding portals. Employee-photo uploads are often limited to 50 KB to keep directories light.
Getting a good photo at 50 KB
A typical passport-style photo at 600×750 pixels lands comfortably at 50 KB with quality to spare — the binary search in this tool usually finishes the job on quality alone, without touching the dimensions. Trouble starts with uncropped phone photos: a 4000×3000 image of a person standing in a room spends most of its bytes on the room. Crop to the head and shoulders first, keep a plain background if the form asks for one, and let the compressor do the rest. If your original is a PNG screenshot of a photo — it happens more than you'd think — switch the output to JPG and watch the size fall.
Photo and signature are different uploads
Most forms that want a 50 KB photo want a much smaller signature, often 20 KB or less. Compress each file to its own limit: use this page for the photo and the 20 KB compressor for the signature. The full picture is in our exam & form size guide.
